Interstate 40 is a major East–West transcontinental Interstate Highway in the southeastern and southwestern portions of the United States. At a length of 3,019 miles (8599 km), it is the third-longest Interstate Highway in the country. From East to West, it passes through California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Its West end is at Interstate 1 in Leggett, California, while its East end is at a concurrency with New York Highway 27 (NY-27) in Massapequa, New York. Major cities served by the Interstate include Leggett, Carson City, Provo, Fort Collins, Holyoke, Nebraska City, Ottumwa, Galesburg, Blakeslee, Leavittsburg, Du Bois, Bellefonte, Bloomsburg, Hackensack and Massapequa.
