Interstate 79 is a major North-South transcontinental highway in the US. Its South terminus is at East Chase Street in Pensacola, Florida and its North end is U.S. Route 6 at Erie, Pennsylvania. On its route I-79 traverses through the states of Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania for a total of 6 states. I-79 is known as the Transamerica Highway or “America’s Expressway” because of the roads immense history following many iconic old highways and trails.
